The study, the first of its kind, was conducted by researchers from Children’s Memorial Hospital and Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, both in Chicago. Among the 234 men who completed the survey, 6 percent said they’d used erectile dysfunction medications; 57 percent said they used the drugs to treat erectile dysfunction, with 29 percent claiming they used them to enhance sexual performance.
Despite the fact that there have been huge advances in the treatment of erectile dysfunction and impotence in the first nine years of this century, due to the development of drugs such as Viagra, it is nonetheless interesting to consider the implications of an increase in impotence in young men.
It is not only the effect of anabolic steroids on boys chasing the perfect beefcake body, but also the effect of smoking tobacco and particularly cannabis, which is affecting the sexual health and performance of young men across the country and beyond.
